During the extrusion process, the extrusion temperature, speed and pressure must be precisely controlled. The extrusion parameters of cables of different specifications are different to ensure that the insulation layer has a uniform thickness, a smooth surface, is closely combined with the conductor, and has no defects such as bubbles and impurities. The thickness of the insulation layer must be strictly controlled according to the design requirements, 0.8mm for 1.5mm² specification and 1.0mm for 2.5mm² specification.
After insulation extrusion, cross-linking treatment is carried out, which is a key process for XLPE Insulation Materials. Through warm water cross-linking or steam cross-linking, the XLPE molecular structure is transformed from linear to network, thereby improving its temperature resistance, mechanical strength and chemical corrosion resistance. The temperature and time of cross-linking treatment are precisely controlled according to material characteristics and cable specifications. Generally, the temperature of warm water cross-linking is 80-90°C, and the time is 24-72 hours; steam cross-linking is carried out in a high-temperature and high-pressure environment, and the time is relatively short.
After that, the three insulated single-core conductors are subjected to cabling and stranding. During cabling, the three conductors must be twisted evenly and tightly. The stranding pitch is determined according to the overall outer diameter of the cable to ensure that the cabled cable has good flexibility. At the same time, some fillers may be added during the cabling process to ensure the roundness and stability of the cable.
After cabling, sheath extrusion is performed. PVC material is added to the extruder, heated to 160-180°C to melt it, and then evenly extruded and coated on the outside of the cabled conductor through an extrusion die to form a PVC sheath. During the extrusion process, the temperature, speed and pressure must also be controlled to ensure that the sheath has a uniform thickness, a smooth surface, and is closely combined with the internal structure. The sheath thickness is 0.6mm for 1.5mm² specification and 0.8mm for 2.5mm² specification.
After the sheath extrusion is completed, the cable is cooled by means of water cooling to cool the cable to room temperature, so that the sheath is solidified and formed. During the cooling process, the water temperature and cooling time must be controlled to avoid cracks in the sheath due to too fast cooling or affecting production efficiency due to too slow cooling.
The cooled cable needs to undergo a series of quality inspections, including appearance inspection, size inspection, electrical performance inspection, mechanical performance inspection, etc. Appearance inspection mainly checks whether the cable surface is smooth, the color is uniform, and there are no scratches, etc.; size inspection measures whether the outer diameter of the cable, the thickness of the insulation layer, the thickness of the sheath, etc. meet the specifications; electrical performance inspection includes insulation resistance test, voltage withstand test, conductor DC resistance test, etc. to ensure good electrical performance of the cable; mechanical performance inspection includes tensile test, bending test, wear test, etc. to evaluate the flexibility, mechanical strength and durability of the cable.
The cables that pass the quality inspection enter the coiling and packaging process. The cables are coiled according to the specified length (such as 100 meters, 200 meters, etc.), and a coiling machine is used to neatly wind the cables on reels or spools, and then packaged to protect the cables from damage during transportation and storage.
